A' Ibom state Gov. Shut down 78 Unapproved Schools

Uyo —No fewer than 78 unapproved private schools in Akwa Ibom State, cutting across nursery, primary and secondary schools, have been shut by the state government. Governor Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom State A statement  by the Permanent Secretary in the state’s Ministry of Education, Mrs. Valerie Obot, yesterday in Uyo, said that the closure took effect from September, 4, 2017. It added that unapproved evening schools and JAMB centres located across the three senatorial districts of the state were also affected. The statement said the closure followed directives from  Governor Udom Emmanuel. According to the statement, the Commissioner for Education had directed the proprietors of the private schools to register and regularize their status with the ministry before August, 31, 2017 and failure of the proprietors to respond to the directives accordingly led to the closure of their schools.
