Buhari group says that N6.5bn A-Ibom Funds: We’re vindicated.

By Gabriel Olawale UYO—Re-Elect Buhari Movement, RBM, has declared that the discovery of the withdrawal of N6.5 billion in cash from Akwa Ibom State coffers by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, is a vindication of its stance on the state. According to naijabdcs.com, the live exchange rate platform of the Association of Bureaux De Change Operators of Nigeria (ABCON), the parallel market exchange rose to N362.5 per dollar from N361.5 per dollar on Wednesday, indicating one naira depreciation of the naira. However, the naira yesterday appreciated to N363.90 per dollar in the Investors and Exporters (I&E) window. Data from FMDQ showed that the indicative exchange rate for the window dropped to N363.90 per dollar yesterday from N364.24 per dollar on Wednesday, translating to 34 kobo appreciation of the naira. The volume of dollars (turnover) traded yesterday in the window rose by five percent to $179.10 million from $169.98 million on Wednesday.

ASUU STRIKE: ASUU meet with FG to call of strike

Abuja The Federal Government and Academic Staff Union of Universities(ASUU) have agreed to resume talks next week to resolve the ongoing strike by university teachers. President Muhammadu Buhari and ASUU President, Prof. Biodun Ogunyemi Dr Chris Ngige, the Minister of Labour and Employment, told newsmen at the end of a closed-door meeting with the union in Abuja on Thursday that the talks had been fruitful. Thursday’s meeting was called at the instance of the minister. “We will resume discussions by next week,’’ Ngige said. Prof. Biodun Ogunyemi, ASUU President, also confirmed that the meeting would continue next week. “We have just started the discussion, we have really not gone too far, so what we have done today was to open the issues.
